All cakes include dark or white chocolate ganache.  Cakes also contain a light Cointreau syrup, if you require no alcohol please let us know.  There is an extra charge for cakes with ground almonds, white chocolate and for tiers of different flavours ($30 each), due to the extra costs & time needed to bake and make mixes.  Fruitcakes will include a thin layer of white chocolate ganache  & marzipan to make it look like the rest of the cake.  Prices below are based on chocolate mudcake only.  Other variations will have a different pricing eg white chocolate is more expensive.  All prices quoted are +gst. Other flavours may be possible, please feel free to discuss with us.

 

Prices

Your cake is made especially for you, and your special day.  Our prices therefore reflect the time & skill involved and the fact that ALL of our cakes are made from scratch.  Yes, that means no packet mix! 

Please use the following as a guide only.

 

SPECIALTY ICED CAKES from (+gst):

2 Tier - $500

3 Tier - $800

4 Tier - $1000
Note:  we are no longer making small cakes for elopements etc

As a guide a 6’, 8’, 10’ round cake feeds around 120 guests & 7’ 9’ feeds 80 for coffee sized portions, and there is an extra charge for square cakes due to the extra time and ingredients needed to ice them.

 

Please include a budget amount in the form.  This enables us to provide you with an accurate quote and to try and stay within your budget.  Please be realistic, the more skill & time involved the more it will cost.

 

When to enquire and get a quote

Ideally 6 months before your big day is perfect.  However we do realise that some dates are busier than others so any time is fine before then.  However, due to the busy summer season, we can NOT guarantee that we can get to quotes for the following summer and beyond at that time.  You are more than welcome to fill in the above form, and even pay the deposit to secure your date, but the actual quotes will not open until the April/May of each year, once the current season has almost finished.  Eg if your wedding is in January 2021, we will not be doing the actual quotes until April/May 2020.  This is so we can concentrate on the cakes for the season in full swing right now, as I’m sure you would want us to be doing for your cake when the time comes. 

 

Deposit and Payment Terms

To confirm your booking we require an NZ$100.00 deposit.  This deposit is non refundable, under any circumstances.  Confirmation of your order secures your position in our books (we are at times fully booked and lack of deposit can lead to your place being given to another client).  Work will only commence on your order once deposit has been made based on the agreed quote and all designs approved by the client. 

 

By paying your deposit, you agree to adhere to the following Terms and Conditions.

 

Final balance and delivery costs

Products and delivery must be paid for in full, 10 days prior to delivery or pick up, no exceptions.  Bank transfer or EFTPOS is preferred, however cheques and cash are acceptable, but must all have cleared prior to work starting on your cake.  You will be sent a reminder approximately 1 month prior.  For cakes ordered within the 1 month time frame, cakes priced under $250.00, or cakes from our Classic Cake Range, full payment is required, before work will start on your cake. 

Your cake will not be produced if payment is not received in time. You may incur an extra charge of $100+ for a late wedding cake payment if it means there is extra work for us to do eg: more emails, baking late when others cakes have already been completed, extra trips to the supermarket for ingredients etc. This is at our discretion.

NOTE:  If you are paying from an International Bank Account, please make sure you add enough to cover the transaction fee.  Your cake is not paid if full otherwise.  NZ$20 is the standard fee from this end.  

If paying via PAYPAL a 4% surcharge will be added.

 

GST

15% GST is applicable on all quoted prices and will be clearly itemised on your quote and invoice.  This includes, but is not limited to the cake, transportation, hire of stands, figurines and toppers.

 

Cancellations and Deposits

All notices of cancellation must be received in writing.

The following cancelation fees apply at the discretion of Cakes of Wanaka management:

Cancellations 30 or more days prior to delivery/pick up date will incur a NZ$100.00 administration fee.

Cancellation of order between 7 and 30 days will incur a 30% deduction from your full payment.

If your cancellation is less than 7 days of your booking full payment will still be required.

NOTE: If you paid for your cake in full at the time of booking, in advance before your date then you will receive 50% refund, not including the $100 non refundable deposit.

 

Pick up and delivery

Yes.  You are very welcome to pick your cake up as they travel very well, and are quite sturdy.  Delivery charges apply, and final price depends on where the venue is, time needed to set the cake up and any other costs (eg gondola charges in Queenstown).  Delivery is subject to number of other cake orders, as we are a small company, so staffing is limited.

Your cake will come in a protective box, with a cellophane cover, to protect from our harsh weather.  It will also include cutting instructions for your caterer. 

If you are picking up your creation, it is your responsibility to organise transport with enough space to place your creation.  We recommend not putting it on the back seat, but rather somewhere flat, like the boot or front floor.  Non-slip matting will be provided. 

 

Travelling with your product

Our cakes are made and packaged in a safe way so that they are stable when travelling.  Clients wishing to pick up their products are responsible for the safe delivery of their product and Cakes of Wanaka does not accept responsibility for any accidents that occur once the cake has been collected.  Cakes of Wanaka will supply clients with information on the safest way to travel with their product.

 

Sundays & Public Holidays

Deliveries on Sundays may incur a small extra charge, as will Public holidays.  Also any cake finishing work that needs to be completed on a Sunday or Public Holiday, will incur an extra charge.  We do not bake on Sundays.
 

As the average cake takes a few days to make and finish, if your event falls on a public holiday or the few days after one there will be a surcharge of $100 per day, at our discretion.  Eg, your event is held on 28th December, it will require baking, ganaching and icing on the 2-4 public holidays over Christmas. 

 

Design

Cakes of Wanaka aims to produce products of the highest standard that fulfil the desires of our clients, as we understand them.  It is important to remember that we are dealing with food and art and no two products are truly ever the same.  There are times when our artists will need to make decisions during the process of manufacture that may affect the style of decoration, proportion or structure of the product.

 

Colour can be subjective and it is vital that clients wishing for exact colour matches provide colour samples and discuss the desired colour when ordering their product.  With regards to ribbon, Cakes of Wanaka provide basic colours and types.  If you would like something specific, we ask that you provide your own.  For a standard cake around 5m is sufficient, but exact measurements can be provided.

Cake Stand Hire

We have a very large selection of cake stands for hire, only available if you also order your cake through us.  There is a link on our FB page will photos of all the stands available.  Each stand requires a refundable CASH ONLY deposit.  This is refunded on the return of the stand.  The amount depends on which one you hire.  If you do not pay the deposit, then stand will not be delivered with your cake.  Please pencil this in on your to do list before your big day to avoid disappointment. 

 

Reference Material

Cakes of Wanaka will make every effort to care for and return reference materials provided by the client in order to facilitate decoration and design.  However, Cakes of Wanaka will not accept financial liability for the materials in cases of loss or damage.

 

Extra Charges

Appointments & consults/tastings:  The majority of our cakes are booked via email, from couples out of town or overseas. If you wish to meet with your cake designer for a tasting, consults are included if your cake has been confirmed & the $100 already paid, or $100 deposit paid on the day of consult.  If your cake is not already confirmed, there is an extra charge of $50.00 per booking, based on 2 people, and includes cake selections, tea/coffee and 1 hour consult time.  Extra tastings at $10.00 per person. Consults are held in our shop, Unit 12, 12 Frederick Street, Wanaka, 9305.  A complimentary 15 minutes is available at no cost, but doesn’t involve the tasting.    Please allow plenty of time to book your consult, especially during the busy summer, when we can only have them on weekdays between 8-10am, and can only do 1 per day. 

 

Design Changes: After an order has been confirmed clients wishing to make major changes that require design time will be charged a $50 fee.  Minor changes may be made without further charge at the discretion of Cakes of Wanaka, 1 month prior to the required date.   Additional charges may apply, for extra equipment & ingredients etc., which will also include freight costs.
